As a professional counselor with more than twenty years of experience, I bring empathy, a deep sense of compassion and well-honed clinical skills to my practice. I believe that each of us, no matter the life circumstances, has inherent strengths, and I am devoted to helping my clients recognize and draw on those inner resources.

My clients appreciate that I bring a practical, constructive approach to the task of counseling, and at the same time I am empathic and creative in working with you to shape the therapy to precisely what your needs are. My style is client-centered and supportive, and I utilize a wide variety of experiential and educational tools for clients to draw upon.

Over these twenty years practicing in both agency and military settings, I have substantial experience dealing with work-related counseling issues, adjustment to aging and disabilities, as well as helping clients cope with anxiety, depression and relationship problems. My master's degree in Counseling was awarded at Portland State University, and I am not only a Licensed Professional Counselor, but also nationally certified (NBCC 55781) and am a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (#16884). In addition, I was awarded a Human Services Management Certificate from PSU.

I appreciate your interest and commitment to seek help! I'm committed to flexibility and doing my best to meet my client's needs, so I offer a sliding fee scale from $25 to $85 per 50 minute session. If you have insurance, please call to talk with me about whether I can serve you as an "out-of-network" provider. My office is conveniently located in the Raleigh Hills area on busline #54 with ample free parking and I can schedule your sessions on an as-needed basis.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I strive to provide my clients with a warm, open, understanding atmosphere where they can feel comfortable expressing themselves. I approach counseling as a shared journey where I work with my clients at their pace. My job is to listen, support, encourage and motivate. I encourage my clients to explore their lives in order to identify challenges and potential solutions. As a therapist, helping clients discover a more meaningful and satisfying life is very rewarding.

I hold a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from George Fox University. I enjoy working with many different types of clients including children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families. My experience includes helping clients with:

I offer a free consultation appointment to let clients determine if I am a good match for their counseling needs. My in-office rate is $40 for a 50 minute session. I am unable to take insurance at this time. A sliding scale is available for a limited number of clients. Feel free to give me a call if you'd like to discuss the sliding scale option.
